Authorizing a $500,000.00 construction contract with SHEDIGS IT, LLC, for the Valve Straightening and Water Distribution System Repairs, Renewal No. 2 project; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the City executed a $500,000.00 construction contract with SHEDIGS IT, LLC, under Contract No. 9746 on August 17, 2022 for the Valve Straightening and Water Distribution System Repairs project, which also authorized two successive renewals; and

WHEREAS, the City executed a $500,000.00 construction contract with SHEDIGS IT, LLC, under Contract No. 9746-1 on July 20, 2023, for the Valve Straightening and Water Distribution System Repairs, Renewal No. 1 project; and

WHEREAS, this proposed $500,000.00 ordinance under Contract No. 9746-2 is for the second and final renewal options for the Valve Straightening and Water Distribution System Repairs construction project; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of the Water Services Department is authorized to execute Contract No. 9746-2 in the amount of $500,000.00 with SHEDIGS IT, LLC, for the Valve Straightening and Water Distribution System Repairs, Renewal No. 2, Project No. 60800054. A copy of the contract is on file in the office of Water Services.

Section 2. That the Director of Water Services is authorized to expend up to the sum of $500,000.00 from Account No. 25-8010-802010-B, Division of Distribution - Pipeline, to satisfy the cost of this contract.

Section 3. That this ordinance, relating to the design, repair, maintenance or construction of a public improvement, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(D) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
