RESOLUTION - Honoring Paul Dorrell for his outstanding service to the Paseo Performing Arts Academy and Kansas City.

WHEREAS, Mr. Paul Dorrell is a proud Kansas City native and the founder of Leopold Gallery and has been instrumental in promoting artists of all races from the Kansas City community through his contributions to institutions such as Arrowhead Stadium, H&R Block, KU Med, Saint Luke's, and various other institutions; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dorrell has exhibited unwavering dedication and financial support as a mentor and funder to the students of the Paseo Performing Arts Academy since 2006. Mr. Dorrell has raised an impressive sum of $150,000 for the Art Department at Paseo Academy, without which the department would face significant challenges in its functioning; and 

WHEREAS, Mr. Dorrell has, through his compassion and inclusive vision, mentored and guided approximately 700 students from the Paseo Academy, and similarly from Sumner Academy in Kansas City, Kansas, on educational journeys that extend beyond the classroom, offering invaluable university tours and enrollment instructions. He shared sage advice on pursuing higher education without incurring debilitating debt, all while advocating for the pursuit of practical degrees that facilitate both financial security and the ongoing creation of art; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Paul Dorrell for his seventeen years of selfless dedicated service, both financially and academically, to the students of the Paseo Performing Arts Academy, the broader Kansas City community, and exemplifying extraordinary commitment and generosity to the field of arts education; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mr. Paul Dorrell with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his exceptional service, mentorship, and philanthropy to the Paseo Academy, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and its students.
