RESOLUTION - Honoring Councilman Lee Barnes Jr's eight years of dedicated service to the people of Kansas City Missouri.

WHEREAS, Councilman Lee Barnes Jr has served as the Councilman of the Fifth District At-Large for eight years, from 2015 to 2023; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Barnes has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication during his tenure, serving as the Chair of the Neighborhood, Planning & Development Committee and as a member of both the Finance, Government & Public Safety Committee, and Legal Review Committee; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Barnes has also contributed his expertise and commitment to various commissions, including the Tax Increment Finance Commission, Planned Industrial Expansion Authority, and EDC Commission; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Barnes has been instrumental in the development and implementation of significant projects, such as the Sobela Aquarium at the Kansas City Zoo and Southpointe at 63rd Street, which will greatly enhance our community; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Barnes has been a champion for minority-owned businesses throughout his term, recognizing their importance in fostering economic diversity and inclusivity within our community; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Barnes has made it his mission to ensure that every council aide smiled or laughed in his presence, creating a positive and uplifting work environment and his infectious sense of humor and genuine care for his colleagues have fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and unity among the council members and staff; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Barnes's unwavering commitment to public service, his exceptional leadership, and his ability to bring joy and laughter to the workplace have left an indelible mark on our community; NOW, THEREFORE,
