RESOLUTION - Recognizing and expressing appreciation to the Honorable Teresa Loar for her service as a Councilwoman representing the Second District At-Large.

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar was first elected as the Councilperson for the First District in 1995 and 1999 then elected to represent the Second District in 2015 and 2019; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar demonstrated a zealous commitment to improve the welfare of animals in Kansas City by supporting Kansas City Pet Project and worked tirelessly towards getting the new animal shelter built; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar contributed to the betterment of the lives of veterans in our community by helping a couple of guys with an idea drawn on a napkin create what is today the Veterans Community Project that has changed the lives of thousands of veterans in Kansas City and is now expanding nationwide; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar fostered a relationship with Kabul, Afghanistan that led to the creation of a new Sister Cities relationship for Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar saw major changes in the Northland during her tenure including the construction and opening of a new North Patrol Police Station, the continued funding, construction and opening of the Central Bank Sporting Complex, the continued expansion of the Northland trail system, and continued improvements to Maplewoods Parkway and Platte Purchase; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar left her mark on the new KCI Terminal with all of the bathroom stall doors opening outward making sure that airport patrons are able to exit with their luggage and belongings; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Loar's unrelenting commitment to make Kansas City a better place to live has earned her a well-deserved reputation as a hard working public servant whose distinguished tenure on behalf of all Kansas Citians merits the acknowledgement appreciation and gratitude of the Council; NOW THEREFORE,
