RESOLUTION - Honoring Veterans Community Project for their commitment to help Veterans in our community.

WHEREAS, VCP was founded by a group of combat Veterans in Kansas City who resolved to stand in the gaps of a broken system that left too many of their brothers and sisters behind; and

WHEREAS, the mission of VCP is dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took the oath for our country, determined to make a difference in the lives of homeless Veterans, a task accomplished by the community for the community; and

WHEREAS, the Veterans Community Project campus includes a tiny home village with wraparound services to help transition Veterans into permanent housing and a Veteran Outreach Center with a team ready to support Veterans with everything from navigating the VA system to financial counseling, employment support, and mental and physical health referrals where they can also receive hygiene and food kits, at no cost to the Veterans; and

WHEREAS, VCP has a long-term goal of eliminating Veteran homelessness nationwide using their campus in Kansas City as a blueprint and expansion has already begun into Longmont, Colorado, St. Louis, Missouri and Sioux Falls, South Dakota with more locations in the works; AND

WHEREAS, VCP has received numerous awards including: Grand Prix Award for Purpose-Build Project by FIABCI, International Real Estate Federation, Newman's Own Award, Non-Profits on Fire from HillVets, Charles E Mc McGee award from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Southtown Foundation Award and they have been featured in multiple publications including Time Magazine, Midwest Living Magazine and Readers Digest, NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
