RESOLUTION - Recognizing the life of Sally Johnson.

WHEREAS, Sally Johnson was born in Grant City, Missouri in Worth County, the smallest county in the state of Missouri as she was fond of saying; and

WHEREAS, Sally Johnson's zeal for politics came from her father, Louis Craven, who was elected to public office in the Worth County, Missouri Commission, and she hoped to fulfill her father's dream of having a politician follow in his footsteps; and

WHEREAS, When Sally saw a need, she sought to fill it. When vehicle accidents continued to occur on N.W. Barry Road, she became part of the solution, which led to N.W. Barry Road being improved from a narrow two-lane, hilly road to a four-lane divided road; and

WHEREAS, Sally was elected to City Council in 1987 and again in 1991, and Sally was appointed as the first female Mayor Pro Tem for Kansas City, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Sally took her responsibilities as an elected official seriously and was known to personally visit constituents to address their concerns; and

WHEREAS, Sally Johnson's community and civic involvement continued long after she left office through Teaching and Reaching Youth, the Assistance League, and her appointment to the Kansas City Police Commission; and

WHEREAS, Sally served as the head of the Harold Hamil Scholarship Committee and personally mentored many of the recipients; NOW, THEREFORE,
