Honoring KCFD Emergency Medical Technicians Ricci Beyers and Cedric Chowdhury for Winning the Gold Medal in the Basic Life Support category of the EMS World Clinical Challenge.

WHEREAS, the EMS World Expo is the largest conference in the world focusing on emergency medical services. Each year, the Expo hosts a competition highlighting the work and skills of pre-hospital medical care providers called the EMS World Clinical Challenge; and

WHEREAS, for the first time in the Expo's thirty-year plus history, the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department sent two teams to Orlando, Florida this last October to compete in the event; and

WHEREAS, KCFD Emergency Medical Technicians Ricci Beyers and Cedric Chowdhury, members of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local No. 42, won the gold medal for first place in the Basic Life Support category, which tests critical thinking skills, teamwork, clinical knowledge, situational awareness, and communication for providers certified at the Emergency Medical Technician level; and

WHEREAS, Kansas City constituents have long received highly skilled care from the Emergency Medical Technicians workers of the Kansas City Fire Department, and we are proud to have shown the world just how excellent our public safety employees are at their important work; and

WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Technician Ricci Beyers has served with the Kansas City Fire Department since 2001 and Emergency Medical Technician Cedric Chowdhury has served since 2016 and we congratulate them for their exemplary achievement; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Ricci Beyers and Cedric Chowdhury for winning the gold medal for first place in the Basic Life Support category in Orlando, Florida; and
