Recognizing Greater Kanas City Crime Stoppers for their outstanding work to keep Kansas City Safe.

WHEREAS, the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers, with its triangle of cooperation between the citizens, the media and law enforcement, is dedicated to putting criminals behind bars while building a foundation of trust and support. The goal of the Crime Stoppers Program is to make the streets safer for our families and neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers was founded in 1982 and will be celebrating 40 years of service to the Greater Kansas City Community in 2022; and

WHEREAS, since its inception, Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers has received over 166,500 tips, leading to 25,500 solved cases; and

WHEREAS, in over 40 years of service, Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers has assisted in the recovery of over $37,000,000 worth of property, cash, and narcotics; and

WHEREAS, the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers have helped to solve 673 homicides by offering rewards for tips that lead to an arrest. These rewards can be up to $25,000; and

WHEREAS, the continuation of this program is vital to safety and well-being of the Greater Kansas City Community; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby acknowledge and congratulate Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers on 40 years of service, recognizing the value and commitment they bring to our community; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers on December 1, 2022, as a token of appreciation by the Mayor and Council for their continued dedication to serving the Greater Kansas City community, and for their continued success for years to come.
