Recognizing community leader Terra Tennille and the many Kansas City BBQ Pitmasters who helped put on Kansas City's first annual "Party in the Pit."

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City supports community events that uplift, amplify, and empower small businesses in Kansas City through the work of community organizers; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the vibrant and diverse BBQ community that calls Kansas City home as well as the community members who enjoy Kansas City's world class BBQ; and

WHEREAS, we recognize Kansas City's first annual "Party in the Pit" that took place on October 11th and the fact that it brought 18 Top Ranked BBQ Pitmasters together to feed over 400 Kansas City community members; and

WHEREAS, we thank the BBQ Pitmasters who participated in the event from Arthur Bryant's Barbeque, Buck Tui BBQ, Chef J BBQ, Danny Edwards BLVD BBQ, Jack Stacks Barbeque, Jazzy B's Kitchen, Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, Jousting Pigs BBQ, Meat Mitch Marbeque, Night Goat Barbeque, Plowboys Barbeque, Scott's Kitchen & Catering, Slap's BBQ, Smoak Craft Barbeque, Wolfpack BBQ, and Smoke on Wheels; and

WHEREAS, we thank Terra Tennille and the team around her who also calls her family for volunteering to work the event thus ensuring that it was a memorable one; and

WHEREAS, we thank the many Kansas Citians who came out to support "Party in the Pit" to show that community members from different backgrounds, upbringings, and support systems can all come together around great food here in this community; and

WHEREAS, we affirm our support for small businesses and community events put on by community organizers that help create a sense of community here in Kansas City; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize community leader Terra Tennille and the many Kansas City BBQ Pitmaste...
