Congratulating Ochai Young Agbaji on leading the University of Kansas to a National Championship win and the No. 14 overall pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2022 NBA Draft.

WHEREAS, Ochai is one of the most decorated Kansas players in KU history earning 2022 NCAA Final Four Most outstanding Player and consensus All-America First Team honors; and
WHEREAS, Ochai ended his Kansas career ranked 15th in points (1,652), fourth in 3 FGs made (250), fourth in 3 FGs attempted (670), seventh in consecutive starts (98) and ninth in minutes played (3,978); and
WHEREAS, Ochai is a three-time All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 selection and was featured as a Big 12 Champions for Life in 2019-2020; and
WHEREAS, during his time at KU, Ochai has earned many awards and been honored for his many achievements in basketball; and
WHEREAS, Ochai after graduating from Oak Park High School in the class of 2018, was granted a full basketball scholarship to KU where he graduated in 2022 with a communication studies degree; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Ochai Young Agbaji on leading the University of Kansas to a National Championship win and the No. 14 overall pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2022 NBA Draft; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ochai Young Agbaji with the appreciation from the Mayor and Council on his outstanding achievements both athletically and scholastically and wishing him the best in his future endeavors, Rock Chalk Jayhawk.
