Recognizing the Leadership Missouri program for their dedication to improving and advancing economic development, career growth, and building leaders in our communities.

WHEREAS, Leadership Missouri was founded in 1990 on the principle that both communities and businesses must develop strong leaders in order to adapt, improve and thrive. This principle continues to be applied by the 1200 community leaders that have graduated from the program; and

WHEREAS, Leadership Missouri recognizes and selects community leaders from across Missouri's private industries and the public sector to participate in the leadership experience to enhance both their leadership skills as well as their knowledge of the state; and

WHEREAS, each monthly session is hosted in a different city in Missouri in which the leaders are immersed in that community to learn about the issues that their fellow Missourians face and are further educated on how to address these concerns and issues through gaining a deeper understanding of the functioning of the state through exploring the different aspects of the state's economy, infrastructure, and political system; and

WHEREAS, Leadership Missouri is a program of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce which for 95 years has helped support and empower Missouri employers and businesses. The program continues to carry out this mission under the great guidance and leadership of the Vice President of Programs and Business Services, Tammy Long, who embodies their motto, "Be the leader you want to follow;" NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the continued efforts and benefits of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Missouri program that benefit all of Missouri; and
