Recognizing the dedication of Tiara Dixon and Marquez “Quez” Beasley for their efforts to celebrate pride month on the Historic 18th & Vine District with, “Pride On The Vine 2.0”.

WHEREAS, the uprising at the Stonewall Inn in June, 1969, sparked a liberation movement and call to action that continues to inspire us to live up to our Nation’s promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all; and

 

WHEREAS, during this year’s pride month, we recall the trials the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community have endured and recognize the legacy of trailblazing individuals who continue to fight for equality here in Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, during this year’s pride month, we recognize the valuable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals across Kansas City, and we reaffirm our commitment to standing in solidarity with LGBTQ+ Kansas Citians; and

 

WHEREAS, we recognize the historic work by the Tiara Dixon and Marquez “Quez” Beasley for bring back “Pride On The Vine” for a second consecutive year; and

 

WHEREAS, we recognize the efforts and contributions of Tiara Dixon and Marquez “Quez” Beasley who took time out of their year to create a welcoming event, space, and weekend for every Kansas Citian; and

 

WHEREAS, we give special thanks to Tiara Dixon and Marquez “Quez” Beasley who have worked tirelessly to create a pride event that will empower the entire LGBTQ+ community; and

 

WHEREAS, we affirm our obligation to uphold the dignity of all people, and give special thanks to those who continue to be stewards of our community; NOW, THEREFORE

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the dedication of Tiara Dixon and Marquez “Quez” Beasley for their efforts to celebrate pride month on the Historic 18th & Vine District with, “Pride On The Vine 2.0;” and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony in thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Tiara Dixon, Marquez “Quez” Beasley, and community partners for their continued advocacy for the Kansas City LGBTQ+ community with gratitude from the Mayor and Council of Kansas City, Missouri.
