Honoring and recognizing Yvette Tunley on her retirement from the City of Kansas City, Missouri after over 30 years of dedicated service to the City.

WHEREAS, Ms. Yvette Tunley began her career with the City as an Information Processor in the Housing and Community Development Department in January 1991 then rose in administration through the Human Resources and Parks and Recreation Departments, eventually settling in at HR in 1996, and has been the Manager of Talent Acquisition since 2004; and

 

                      WHEREAS, Yvette has provided over thirty years of exceptional public service throughout her career; and

 

                     WHEREAS, during her career, Yvette has demonstrated the highest standard for professionalism and collegiality in leading a staff managing the process to recruit and hire a majority of the employees currently employed with the City; and

 

                     WHEREAS, in addition to all she has accomplished as Manager of Talent Acquisition, Yvette has also been the driving force for the City’s participation in Kansas City Corporate Challenge for over two decades, working tirelessly as the City’s Coordinator since 1997, and attending a vast majority of events as event coordinator, athlete, emergency fill-in participant, volunteer or cheerleader; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Yvette is too active to really retire, and plans to continue her Mary Kay business, develop a program to advise and mentor high school athletes, and spend time with her family, including cheering on the next generation of talented athletes in her family; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Yvette has provided strong leadership and mentorship to her Human Resources colleagues and all employees through Corporate Challenge, and retires from the City with the sincere admiration and gratitude from HR staff for her support, friendship and service; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

                     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

                     That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their most sincere appreciation to Yvette Tunley for her 30 years of distinguished and exceptional service to Kansas City, together with their heartiest best wishes for the future; and

 

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to her in token of the grateful appreciation of the Mayor and Council for the excellent services and leadership provided by her to the City, its officers and employees, for so many years.
