Appropriating $600,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Health Levy Fund to the Appropriated Fund Balance of the Health Levy Fund; designating requisitioning authority to the Director of Health for ongoing salary costs previously decreased within the annual budget; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, within the adopted FY22 budget the City Manager increased salary savings from $600,000 to $1.27 million after the FY22 budget was submitted; and
WHEREAS, the Health Department is still responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and cannot effectively respond to the pandemic without the needed resources; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the sum of $600,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Health Levy Fund to the following accounts:
22-2330-502310-601100 Health Education $200,000.00
22-2330-502400-601100 Communicable Disease Prevention 200,000.00
22-2330-502180-601100 Lead Poisoning Prevention 200,000.00
TOTAL: $600,000.00

Section 2. That the Director of Health is hereby designated as the requisitioning authority for the funds appropriated in Section 1.

Section 3. That this ordinance is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(C) of the City Charter in that it appropriates money and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503 of the City Charter.
