In observance of St. Patrick’s Day and the contributions of the Irish to Kansas City since 1847.

WHEREAS, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has worked diligently to bring back Kansas City’s popular and storied parade after a two year hiatus due to COVID; and
WHEREAS, everyone in Kansas City, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds, is invited and welcome to share the spirit of the Celts on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th; and
WHEREAS, the Parade Committee, along with the Kansas City Irish Fest, the Kansas City Irish Center at Drexel Hall, The Ancient Order of Hibernians and many other organizations combine to keep the Celtic spirit alive, year-round, with music, dance, art, literature and family-friendly celebrations of life; and
WHEREAS, those great organizations are powered by thousands of volunteers; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby express their appreciation and admiration to those many individuals whose passion and hard work make these offerings and events possible, and showcase the rich and diverse heritages of the people or our city; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to representatives of the Irish organizations, including: Matt Adams and Michelle Kilker, Co-Chairs of the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade; Brian Carpenter, President of the Board of the Kansas City Irish Fest, and Nancy Wormington, Executive Director of the Kansas City Irish Center.
