RESOLUTION - Recognizing Pastor Branden A. Mims for his faithful service to the 3rd District through the AdHoc Group Against Crime as Chief Operating Officer, Greater Impact KC as CEO and Executive Director, and as Senior Minister of the Greater Metropolitan Church of Christ in Kansas City.

WHEREAS, in addition to his religious impact, Pastor Mims has taken initiative in the Third District, focusing on community outreach, violence prevention, and restorative justice; and

WHEREAS, as the CEO of Greater Impact KC, Pastor Mims works to tackle the problem of addiction, seeing around 600-700 addicts a month as, according to Jackson County Public Health, "Drug Overdose is the leading cause of death for young adults in Missouri," and according to SAMHSA's report of Kansas City, roughly 157,000 people (8.6% of the population) struggle with substance use disorders; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Mim's work positively affects and has helped aid this crisis. In addition, Pastor Mims has made a significant impact in crisis case management, trauma treatment, male mentoring, workforce development, and holistic recovery support; and

WHEREAS, among his many accomplishments, Pastor Mims endeavors to make his legacy that of impact in societal issues, showing the church's presence and its importance in the health, life, and vibrancy of our community and has exhibited that through his voice and work in housing, crime prevention, and community outreach; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Mims is most proud of his work regarding Youth Mental Health and makes it his life's goal to inspire change and provide hope not only to adults, but also to future generations; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Pastor Branden A. Mims for his faithful service to the 3rd District; and
