RESOLUTION - Declaring the week of September 13-22, 2024, as Welcoming Week 2024, celebrating the spirit of unity that is bringing neighbors together across Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri's success depends on making sure that all residents feel welcome in our great City; and

WHEREAS, today, new residents are a vital part of our community - bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas, starting businesses, and contributing to the vibrant diversity that we all value; and

WHEREAS, during Welcoming Week, September 13-22, 2024, all residents are invited to join this movement of communities nationwide by renewing the commitment of core American values and by taking action in the spirit of welcoming; and

WHEREAS, by working together, greater prosperity can be achieved and our community can be the kind of place where people from around the world feel valued and want to put down roots; and

WHEREAS, by recognizing the contributions that all can make to create a vibrant culture and growing economy, the community is more prosperous and more inclusive to all who call it home; and

WHEREAS, let us all come together to build strong, bonded communities where every resident has the opportunity to contribute their best, create flourishing communities and reaffirm that Kansas City, Missouri still stands as a beacon of freedom and opportunity for all; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby declares September 13-22, 2024, as Welcoming Week 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Welcoming KC Coalition Members with the Mayor and Council encouraging all residents to recognize and celebrate unity amongst neighbors across Ka...
