Recognizing the Missouri Grind Elite 5th grade girls’ basketball team for winning the AAU 5th National Championship.

WHEREAS, the Missouri Grind Elite is a 501-3c nonprofit organization that specializes in basketball skill development and game play experience for young women in the Kansas City Metropolitan and surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, the Missouri Grind Elite basketball team, coached by LaDarrian Page and Terell Mills, teaches girls about work ethic, perseverance, sportsmanship, and character. Their focus on life skill development encourages the girls to be all around role models in their communities. From the classroom to their respective careers down the road, the Missouri Grind Elite aspires for their athletes to exude leadership and self-confidence as they navigate the world; and
WHEREAS, the club is home to more than sixty girl athletes who make up nine premier teams ranging from grades 4th thru 12th. Many of the athletes are scholars and are anticipated to play collegiate and professional sports; and
WHEREAS, serving single parent families and youth at-risk homes is a part of the mission and vision of the Missouri Grind Elite organization; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the amazing talent and dedication of Missouri Grind Elite and the Missouri Grind Elite 5th grade girl athletes for their success in winning the AAU 5th National Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Missouri Grind Elite 2029 5th grade girls’ basketball team with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council for a job well done.
