Congratulating Colvin Bower on being elected as Boys State House of Representatives Majority Floor Leader.

WHEREAS, since its inception in 1938, Missouri Boys State has provided over 40,000 high school students with the privilege of attending this practical laboratory in citizenship and leadership training; and

WHEREAS, Boys State is designed to help boys develop leadership skills by forming their own society and setting up local and state governments including the opportunity to run for office or be appointed to a post while others will support their community and candidates of their choice; and

WHEREAS, Colvin Bower was elected House of Representatives Majority Floor Leader during Boys State’s 81st Session held July 12-19, 2021, on the University of Central Missouri campus; and

WHEREAS, Colvin Bower graduated from Liberty High School in 2021 and earned a Policy Debate Conference Championship in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference; and

WHEREAS, Colvin will continue to use his knowledge and leadership skills as he attends the University of Missouri- Colombia later this month; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Colvin Bower on being elected as Boys State House of Representatives Majority Floor Leader; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Colvin Bower in token of the Mayor and Council’s best wishes for his future endeavors.
