RESOLUTION - Honoring and celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs Wheelchair Football Team for its achievements in the USA Wheelchair Football League for previous and current seasons.

WHEREAS, the USA Wheelchair Football League launched in 2019 by Move United and made possible in part by an NFL-BWF Salute to Service partnership to provide a 'Healthy Lifestyles and Creating Community' grant; and
WHEREAS, the league provided the first organized opportunity for adults with disabilities to participate in wheelchair football and has grown from its initial four teams to fourteen teams nationally; and
WHEREAS, the league's rules were designed to closely resemble NFL gameplay, with adaptations ensuring the integrity and safety of the players while keeping the game fast-paced, competitive, and enjoyable for players and spectators; and
WHEREAS, since 2020, more than 1,000 veterans, athletes with disabilities, coaches and officials have participated in USA Wheelchair Football League programs through opportunities including learn-to-play clinics, development opportunities, and tournaments that bring together the best adaptive athletes across the country; and
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Chiefs Wheelchair Football Team triumphantly won the 2022-2023 Championship over the LA Rams Wheelchair Football Team with a final score of 7-0; and
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Chiefs Wheelchair Football Team, with an undefeated 9-0 record regular season, and appearing in their fourth championship game securing their second league championship title with a 26-20 final score victory at the 4th USA Wheelchair Football League Championship Game hosted at Bartle Hall against the GLASA Chicago Bears Wheelchair Football Team; NOW, THEREFORE,
