RESOLUTION - Recognizing Scholar Smarts for its contribution to workforce development in Kansas City and recognizing September 14, 2024, as Scholar Smarts Day in Kansas City.

WHEREAS, Scholar Smarts' mission is to provide accessible and innovative learning solutions that equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to succeed in today's rapidly evolving world; and

WHEREAS, Scholar Smarts builds educational and employment systems that are dedicated to empowering individuals through education and employment opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Scholar Smarts offers college preparatory workshops, employment workshops and teaches college bound students the essentials of designing a professional scholarship ready essay; and

WHEREAS, Scholar Smarts partners with the national Infinite Scholar Program to provide youth experiencing poverty with opportunities with immediate college admissions and full-ride tuition. In 2023, over 300 Kansas City students participated in the Infinite Scholar College and Career Fair and over $1 million was provided in college scholarship; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

                     That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Saturday, September 14, 2024, as Scholar Smarts Day in Kansas City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Pauline Eatman Johnson with the Mayor and Council urging the community to engage in activities to build our local workforce.
