Saluting the Zodiac Motorcycle Club Founders and members of Kansas City, for its many charitable contributions to the community and celebrating the 48th anniversary this year.

WHEREAS, the Zodiac Motorcycle club has served as a positive social outlet for African-American men with a long history of supporting charitable organizations throughout the State of Missouri; and
WHEREAS, the Zodiacs hold its annual Block party in the month of October inviting all to help celebrate this historical group; and
WHEREAS, Zodiacs are not just people who ride motorcycles, but those who live the biker lifestyle, they ride, celebrate, laugh, and grieve together. They honor our veterans, first responders, police officers and the Honorable Councilmembers guiding the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, the Zodiacs, place a brother's needs before their own wants and Zodiac members take care of each other, their families, as well as those in their communities who need their help; and
WHEREAS, a Chapter of The Zodiacs Motorcycle Club started in Kansas City, Missouri, expanded to Higginsville and Springfield Missouri, Atlanta, Georgia and Opelousas, Louisiana. As a result, they have been profiled in local news outlets for their charity work, but sometimes only the recipients of their assistance know who helped them. They do this charity work, not because of greed or for glory, but because they feel it is the right thing to do; and
WHEREAS, Zodiac Officers: President Omar Williams 15+ years, Sgt of Arms: Leon Byers 3+ years, Secretary Fred Marell 20+ years, Treasury Cecil Everidge 37+ years, Road Captain Ronnie Boles 35+ years, Chaplain Robert Harris 47+ years, and Parliamentarian Aaron Ward 16+ years; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and salute the Zodiac Motorcycle Club of Kansas City, Missouri ...
