Recognizing the Mid-America Regional Council for 50 years of service to Kansas City, Missouri

WHEREAS, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) was founded 50 years ago as a nonprofit association of city and county governments and the metropolitan planning organization for the bistate Kansas City region; and

WHEREAS, MARC serves nine counties and 119 cities to provide a forum for the region to work together to advance social, economic, and environmental progress; and

WHEREAS, MARC believes Greater Kansas City is a region of opportunity with a robust economy, healthy environment and social capacity to support the creativity, diversity and resilience of its people, places and communities; and

WHEREAS, their regional goals include developing and creating vibrant, connected, and green places to allow citizens to be successful, engaged, and healthy; and

WHEREAS, MARC convenes partners and coordinates planning efforts on issues important to communities in the metro, including aging services, early learning, health care, community development, homeland security, emergency services, and many others; and

WHEREAS, MARC recognizes and works toward our shared vision for our region to balance a thriving economy, social equity and a healthy environment, meeting today's needs without compromising the needs of future generations; and

WHEREAS, we celebrate our regional accomplishments and thank the Mid-America Region Council for 50 years of partnering with the City of Kansas City, Missouri to promote regional cooperation through leadership, planning and action; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the Mid-America Regional Council for 50 years of service; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Mid-Amer...
