Amending Chapter 70, Article XII of the Code of Ordinances entitled Traffic Control Signs, Signals and Devices, by repealing Section 70-952, "Manual and specifications for traffic control devices," and enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter to provide for consistency in City traffic control and wayfinding signage.

WHEREAS, the City has multiple vibrant and diverse residential and commercial districts reflecting the City's history and employment centers; and

WHEREAS, a uniform system of wayfinding creates a clear and accessible means for residents and visitors alike to navigate easily between destinations including but not limited to: neighborhoods, districts, key landmarks, destinations, community parking and;

WHEREAS, the City is multi-modal and accommodates the needs of drivers, bikers, and pedestrians, and:

WHEREAS, the City hosts numerous sport and convention events drawing visitors from across the globe; and

WHEREAS, as part of the City's tourism and convention efforts, the City wants visitors to experience all of Kansas City's destination districts and make it easier for all to explore and enjoy the City; and

WHEREAS, a uniform wayfinding system would provide a better, simpler residents and visitor experience and

WHEREAS, the City has successfully utilized standardized wayfinding downtown and desires to replicate that success citywide; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That Chapter 62, Article XII of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by repealing Section 70-952, entitled "Manual and specifications for traffic control devices" and enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter, to read as follows:
