Recognizing David Evans for more than 35 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in the critical field of information technology.

WHEREAS, David Evans was hired by the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in 1988 when the City was still entrenched in mainframe technology; and
WHEREAS, Evans was challenged with implementing innovative technologies to help guide the City through the remarkable advancements made in information technology over the past 35 years -- from its first PC through the extensive services now spanning all City departments; and
WHEREAS, Evans was also instrumental in bringing Google Fiber, the KC Streetcar Technologies, the Regional Video Surveillance system and other innovations to the City; and
WHEREAS, Evans believes technology is ubiquitous in our everyday lives and the increased demand for technology is playing a critical role in the development, enhancement and safety of the services we deliver to our residents as a municipality; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri is proud to recognize and celebrate the outstanding legacy that David Evans leaves behind, while wishing him the very best that life has to offer as he starts this next leg of his innovative journey; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize, David Evans, Chief Information Officer, for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, for his contributions to this City and its employees and residents; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to David Evans with the gratitude of the Mayor and Council for his service to our City and wishing him the best in his retirement.
