WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department is committed to substantial improvements at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park; and

WHEREAS, the parking lot at Dr. Martin Luther King Square Jr. Park is in poor condition and in need of replacement; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department required additional funding to complete improvements to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City Missouri Parks and Recreation submitted a request to the Sunderland Foundation to help fund improvements to the parking lot; and

WHEREAS, the Sunderland Foundation has awarded KC Parks with a grant in the amount of $467,000.00 to help pay for the needed parking lot at Dr. Martin Luther King Square Jr. Park; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That a grant award agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation, acting through its Interim Director, and the Sunderland Foundation to help pay for the parking lot at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park, to be completed by December 2022, is hereby accepted. A copy of the grant award agreement, in substantial form, is on file with the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the Capital Improvement Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following amount:

22-3091-705095-487980-G70225031 Sunderland Foundation Grant $467,000.00
