RESOLUTION - Honoring the Junior League of Kansas City: Committed to Community, Committed to Each Other.

WHEREAS, for over 110 years, the Junior League of Kansas City has been an organization of women committed to advance women's leadership through volunteer action, collaboration, and training for meaningful and maximum impact; and
WHERE, the Junior League of Kansas City is known to promote quality and availability of health services, to advocate for strong measures of security and stability of individuals and families, and to uphold excellence in education and the access to nutritional resources; and
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Kansas City, hosts a variety of events throughout the year including signature fundraising events, community outreach programs and prospective member meet-ups, always creating new and fun ways to engage with the League; and
WHEREAS, since 1914, the Junior League of Kansas City has raised more than $18.5 million and provided more than 2.5 million volunteer hours to 350 community partners; under the current, keen leadership of Erika Duker as president JLKC, is proud to currently have 500 active members and more than 700 sustaining members; and
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Kansas City is focused on women's and children's issues, centering on self-sustainability, abuse and neglect, and childhood development; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the work, service, and unmatched commitment of the Junior League of Kansas City today March 7, 2024; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ericka Duker with the Mayor and Council urging all residents to consider committing to their community and to each other as the Junior Le...
