RESOLUTION - Designating the City of Kansas City Missouri to be the recipient of the United States Department of Transportation RAISE 2022 Grant Funds; and repealing Resolution 230201.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City was the lead applicant for a United States Department of Transportation Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity ("RAISE") 2022 grant that was approved for funding; and
WHEREAS, the grant application sought funding for a comprehensive study of the US-71 (Bruce R Watkins) Corridor in order to determine safety and mobility issues as well as to set the foundation for a long-term solution for the surrounding neighborhood and this vital transportation corridor ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, in an effort to streamline project management roles, on March 2, 2023 the City Council voted in Resolution No. 230201 to designate the Missouri Department of Transportation (“MoDOT”) the direct recipient and administrator of the grant funds; and
WHEREAS, it has now become evident that to maintain control and authority over the development of solutions that benefit the community the City must retain the role of grant recipient and administrator; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the City Council does hereby designate the City of Kansas City, Missouri as the recipient of the RAISE 2022 grant funds and administrator of the grant.
Section 2. That Resolution 230201 is hereby repealed.
