Declaring the week of May 15-21, 2022, as National Public Works Week in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, this year's National Public Works Week theme "Ready & Resilient" highlights the ability of our professionals to perform regular public works duties and be ready at a moment's notice to react as first responders during disasters and overcome trials seen in the field; and
WHEREAS, Public Works employees are frontline and essential workers, who maintain our infrastructure and provide basic services at all times of the day, in all types of weather and through a global pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Public Works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and strong communities and to the public health, quality of life and well-being of the people of Kansas City, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to maintain interest and understanding of the importance of Public Works programs such as street maintenance, street signs and markings, solid waste, neighborhood cleanups, illegal dumping, traffic engineering, streetlights and traffic lights, project and construction management, permitting and permit inspection, complete streets, sidewalk repair, administration, and the various services that support multimodal transportation; and
WHEREAS, the health, safety, connectivity, and comfort of the citizens of Kansas City greatly depend on the services offered by Public Works, whose goals can be observed through the department's SPIRIT values - standing for Sustainability, Public Safety, Integrity, Responsiveness, Innovation and Teamwork; and
WHEREAS, the year 2022 marks the 62nd annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association; NOW, THEREFORE,
