RESOLUTION - Directing the City Manager to identify funding opportunities that will enhance City-funded affordable housing projects and report back to Council within 90 days.

WHEREAS, on August 4, 2026, Kansas City voters overwhelmingly approved $100 million in general obligation bonds for affordable housing; and
WHEREAS, the bonds will support the Housing Trust Fund and will assist in financing a plan to build and rehabilitate affordable housing; and
WHEREAS, addressing the affordable housing crisis will require identification of funding opportunities and strategic use of said funds; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes leveraging additional funds alongside the Housing Trust Fund can increase the Fund’s effectiveness; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the City Manager is hereby directed to identify state, federal and philanthropic funding opportunities to enhance the impact of City funds dedicated to affordable housing and to develop a plan to pursue said funding opportunities and report back to Council within 90 days.
