Honoring Ruskin High School's Track & Field Team of the Hickman Mills School District for its continuous achievement as MSHSAA Class 4 State Champions in the City of Kansas City.

WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles have sustained for more than fifty-years a track & field program in which students sacrifice five hours a day during Spring break enduring fatigue and wounds as a major hurdle in preparation for this moment; and

WHEREAS, the weekend of May 27 through 28 marked the start of MSHSAA Class 3,4 & 5 Girls & Boys State Championships held at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, the Eagle Girls placed 1st in the 4x100m; 9th Graders-Rahkia Moore and Samya Fontleroy, 12th Grader-Todjai Ross and 10th Grader -Myala Taylor with a result of 48.76; and

WHEREAS, an Eagle Girl placed 1st in the long jump and 4th in the triple jump; 12th Grader-Todjai Ross with a result of 5.42 and 10.97; and

WHEREAS, the Eagle Girls placed 7th in the 4x200m; 10th Graders-Myala Taylor and Bailey Arceneaux, 9th Graders-Ayania Burrel and Samya Fotleroy with a result of 1:45.65 and 11th Grader-Elliana Wandick placed 8th in the discus throw with a result of 34.52; and

WHEREAS, the Eagle Boys placed 8th in the 4x200m; 10th Graders-Giavonni Jones and Trevon Criggler, 11th Grader-Joseph Hathaway and 12th Grader-Gamarion Lanear with a result of 1:31.74; and

WHEREAS, the Eagle Boys placed 13th in the 4x400m; 10th Graders-Giavonni Jones and Trevon Criggler, 11th Grader-Joseph Hathaway and 12th Grader-Gamarion Lanear with a result of 3:32.5 and 11th Grader-Daniel Williams sustained an injury placing 16th in the 300mH; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the Ruskin High School Eagles Track & Field Team for their achievements in the 2022 MSHSAA Class 4 State Championship.
