Recognizing the service and dedication of the Kansas City Pride Community Alliance.

WHEREAS, during this year's pride weekend, we recall the trials the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community have endured and recognize the legacy of trailblazing individuals who continue to fight for equality here in Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, during this year's pride weekend, we recognize the valuable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals across Kansas City, and we reaffirm our commitment to standing in solidarity with LGBTQ+ Kansas Citians; and
WHEREAS, we recognize the service of the Kansas City Pride Community Alliance and their dedication to persevere through it all to successfully bring back the Kansas City Pride Parade as well as Kansas City's Pride Festival; and
WHEREAS, we recognize the historic move by the Kansas City Pride Community Alliance for bringing back Kansas City's pride parade after 19 years; and
WHEREAS, we recognize the efforts and contributions of the many volunteers who took time out of their weekend to create a welcoming event, space, and weekend for every Kansas Citian; and
WHEREAS, we give special thanks to the entire Kansas City Pride Community Alliance Board who worked tirelessly to create a pride that brought some needed healing and love to our community; NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the service and dedication of the Kansas City Pride Community Alliance; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jordan Hetrick, Tony Medina, Clint Hylton, Korea Kelly, Star Palmer, Erica Vega, Moon Glasgow Brown, Justice Horn, the LGBTQ Commission of Kansas City, and community partners for their continued advocacy for the Kansas City LGBTQ+ community with gratitude from th...
