RESOLUTION - Honoring Shawn Copeland Sr., CEO of Grown Folks Entertainment.

WHEREAS, Shawn Copeland Sr. created Grown Folks Entertainment to provide annual social events and gathering for adults to enjoy themselves, socialize and dance whether, it was just a small group or hundreds; and

WHEREAS, Shawn Copeland was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and met his wife in 1993 and married in 2001, they have two children; and

WHEREAS, Shawn Copeland Sr., CEO of Grown Folks Entertainment, has promoted or partnered with several organization to present over 20 events, 8 of which are done annually in Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Shawn Copeland is most proud of 2 events, First, The She Bangs Mother's Day Appreciation Picnic in the Park in honor of his beloved mother Freddie Mae Copeland, where ladies and families can come to celebrate mother's day while socializing with others. The best part about the Mother Picnic is men get to serve the ladies a nice meal. Second, the annual Blue Jeans and Blazer event which started out as a fundraiser for Southwest High School, his alumni, Shawn's first year they had 650 people attend the event, every year after that Shawn had over 1200 people attend. This past January the Blue Jeans and Blazer event had over 1200 attendees and that was without any major artist, radio play or guest speaker: NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Shawn Copeland Sr., CEO of Grown Folks Entertainment, for his commitment to bring social events and gathering for adults in Kansas City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Shawn Copeland with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his outstanding commitment to Kans...
