RESOLUTION - Congratulating the Kansas City Chiefs on their American Football Conference Championship win and challenging the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to a civic bet that the Chiefs will beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

WHEREAS, on January 28, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens with a 17-10 win in the American Football Conference (AFC) Championship game; and
WHEREAS, the City Council congratulates the San Francisco 49ers on their win against the Detroit Lions in the National Football Conference Championship game; and
WHEREAS, Chiefs Tight End, Travis Kelce, now holds the record for most postseason receptions of all time; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Andy Reid secured his 22nd postseason win; and
WHEREAS, after six AFC Championship appearances, three Super Bowl appearances, and two Super Bowl wins in the last 6 years, the Kansas City Chiefs have entered their Super Bowl Era; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Kansas City hereby challenges the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to a civic bet on the outcome of Super Bowl LVIII. The losing legislative body will donate to a charity of the winner’s choosing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes the Kansas City Chiefs the best of luck in the Super Bowl. Go Chiefs!; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the 2023-24 Kansas City Chiefs on their American Football Conference Championship win and challenges the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to a civic bet that the Chiefs will beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
