RESOLUTION - Directing the City Manager to develop a funding plan for capital repairs and improvements for the 18th & Vine Museum and the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center.

WHEREAS, capital repairs and improvements are needed for the 18th & Vine Museum and the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center to continue to meet operational needs and safety standards; and

 

WHEREAS, these upgrades are critical to both buildings to preserve their long-term functionality and ensure the safety of those who use them; and

 

WHEREAS, these municipal buildings are significant structures in Kansas City and these  improvements will not only enhance the buildings functionality but also extend its lifespan and increase energy efficiency and ultimately reducing long-term costs; and

 

WHEREAS, the cost estimates for these  improvements are $7,472,500.00 for 18th & Vine Museum and GEM Theatre’s repairs phased over three years and  $3,200,000.00 for Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center’s  Repairs phased over two years; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

                     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

                     That the City Manager is directed to develop a funding plan for capital repairs and improvements for the 18th & Vine Museum and the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center. The plan shall identify potential funding sources for necessary appropriations to support such plan.
