Recognizing artists Joe Bussell and Fred Trease for their stirring and beautiful Now Showing exhibition in City Hall.

WHEREAS, Joe Bussell and Fred Trease are local artists and makers contributing to our vibrant arts community in Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Woodson, with support from Emily Woodring, is a local artist and filmmaker, who has included these works and others in her project, "AIDS in KC: The Early Days" to highlight our local struggle in the early days of the AIDS crisis; and
WHEREAS, KCPBS produced and funded the "AIDS in KC" film; and
WHEREAS, HIV/AIDS has had a devastating impact on our nation and city, and remains a public health concern to be addressed at every level of government; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri is proud to host important and evocative works like those of our current artists to help us remember and reflect on times of national and local devastation like that of the AIDS public health crisis; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri is proud to partner with organizations like ArtsKC - Regional Arts Council to highlight and uplift important works and local artists for members of the public to engage with; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize, Joe Bussell, Fred Trease, Sandy Woodson, Emily Woodring, and KCPBS for their contribution to the beautification of the City Hall for the benefit and wellbeing of all employees and visitors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Joe Bussell, Fred Trease, Sandy Woodson, Emily Woodring, and Kliff Kuehl with the gratitude of the Mayor and Council for their contributions to our City.
