RESOLUTION -Recognizing Richard Sayles for more than 38 years of service to Kansas City and its citizens.

WHEREAS, Richard has served the people of Kansas City for 38 years and has served as a Captain in the Kansas City, Missouri and Platte City Police Departments for a combined 30 years. Richard has served as the District 1 Public Improvement Advisory Committee Representative for the last eight years; and
WHEREAS, as Councilwoman Hall's Public Improvement Advisory Committee Representative, Richard has had a fundamental role in many projects, including Fire Station 15 and 112th and North Stark Intersection Project. Overall, Richard has helped allocate over 10 million dollars to improve the streets, sidewalks, and neighborhoods of District 1; and
WHEREAS, Richard serves his community in a variety of ways. Richard serves as the business manager of his church St. Charles Borromeo and has also served as a board member of both Friends of the Clay County CASA since 2001 and Northland Neighborhoods Inc. since 2011; and
WHEREAS, Richard has been a professor at the University of Arkansas since 2006. Teaching classes within its Criminal Justice Department, Richard has touched the lives of over 1000 students in his career; and
WHEREAS, through his work as a Captain in the Kansas City, Missouri and Platte City Police Departments, as a District 1 Public Improvement Advisory Committee Representative, as a Board Member of various community organizations, and as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard has set the standard for a life of service; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Richard Sayles for more than 38 years of service to Kansas City and its citizens; and
