RESOLUTION - Recognizing Scott Burnett as the Stockyards Legends Dinner honoree and thanking him for his service to Kansas City, Missouri and The Historic West Bottoms.

WHEREAS, Scott Burnett has had a lifelong interest in history and is an avid student of politics obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Kansas State in 1974; and
WHEREAS, Scott Burnett joined the Jimmy Carter for President campaign in 1975 as a field organizer and joined the White House staff in 1977, serving on the scheduling staff; and
WHEREAS, Scott Burnett then created an environmental cleanup company in 1982 and established his home office and became enchanted with the history, built environment, and community of the West Bottoms; and
WHEREAS, Scott Burnett was elected to the Jackson County Legislature in 1998 and served as Representative for the First District until 2023; and
WHEREAS, Scott Burnett's continued love of the Kansas City community encouraged him to be involved in various community organizations in which he assumed many leadership roles; and
WHEREAS, throughout the years Scott Burnett has served in leadership roles for outstanding community organizations like Operation Breakthrough, Sleepyhead Beds, Roanoke Homes Association, Roanoke Park Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity, and The Historic West Bottoms Association; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Scott Burnett as the Stockyards Legends Dinner honoree and thank him for his service to Kansas City and The Historic West Bottoms; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Scott Burnett with the gratitude of the Mayor and Council for his work and dedication to Kansas City, Missouri and the Midwest ...
