RESOLUTION - Directing the City Manager to collaborate with transportation partners to provide for free transit options to polling stations in Kansas City, Missouri on November 5, 2024.

WHEREAS, exercising the right to vote is essential to the healthy and effective operation of a democratic government; and

                     

WHEREAS, reducing obstacles for voters can increase voter participation; and

                     

WHEREAS, City Council previously adopted Ordinance 240866, which established the Vote Your Voice KC civic program to promote voter registration and participation; and

                     

WHEREAS, City Council desires to enhance community awareness about the importance of voting, provide essential resources like transportation, and facilitate a more inclusive electoral process that reflects the diverse voices of Kansas City residents; NOW, THEREFORE,

                     

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

                     

Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby directed to collaborate with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and other transportation partners to provide free transit options to polling stations in Kansas City, Missouri on November 5, 2024.
