Accepting and approving the third year continuation award in the amount of $732,999.00 under the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services under the CORE Public Health Functions Grant; accepting previously received incentive funding in the amount of $159,089.60 under the same grant; estimating and appropriating a total of $892,088.60 in the Health Grants Fund; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the Health Department has been awarded funding under the State of Missouri's Core Aid to Local Public Health Agencies Block grant, a five-year funding allocation providing program support from 2024 through 2027, and the funds awarded under this agreement represent a portion of that multi-year grant; and

WHEREAS, these funds will support the Health Department's current efforts, eligible public health functions, including activities related to assessment, prevention, surveillance, environmental public health, and ensure overall success of the Department; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That a contract between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting though its Director of Health, and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, whereby the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will provide funding to support local public health agencies to serve as community leaders in performing the core public health functions of assessment, prevention, surveillance, environmental public health, planning, policy development and assurance for a period beginning June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027, for an amount not to exceed $892,088.60, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the agreement, in substantial form, is on file with the Director of Health.

Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the Health Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following amount:
