RESOLUTION - Celebrating "the Mecca's" contributions to our community.

WHEREAS, Kansas City thrives when its citizens gather intentionally to foster community unity, support local commerce, and celebrate regional culture; and
WHEREAS, "the Mecca" has established itself as a premier community initiative, marking 36 consecutive and ongoing months of providing vital, inclusive spaces for connection, networking, and cultural enrichment for residents across the metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, by utilizing a unique, equitable economic model that ensures performing artists receive a 100% split from the event sales, "the Mecca" sets a powerful standard for fair compensation, actively sustaining and investing in our local creative workforce; and
WHEREAS, by utilizing a mobile framework-headquartered primarily at Kinship Cafe in the historic city of Independence while intentionally expanding to neighboring communities-"the Mecca" actively stimulates local economies and highlights small businesses throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, this recurring gathering serves a vital role in bridging geographic and social divides, bringing diverse populations together under a shared vision of community equity and mutual support; and
WHEREAS, "the Mecca" has created a welcoming platform where musicians, poets, comedians, visual artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders can share their talents, ideas, and experiences, enriching the culture of Kansas City; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby celebrate "the Mecca's" contributions to our community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to "the Mecca" with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for their ongoing impact and efforts to make Kansas City a more vibrant and equitable place to live.
