Accepting and approving a $78,792.00 grant award amendment from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services that provides funding for a comprehensive human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) surveillance program in the Kansas City, Missouri area; estimating and appropriating $78,792.00 in the Health Grants Fund; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, HIV surveillance is responsible for identifying and coordinating the reporting of HIV disease in a seven-county region of Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, HIV surveillance provides the data and statistical information needed to apply and maintain funds that support Ryan White activities that assist those living with HIV in the Kansas City metropolitan area; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That a grant award amendment in the amount of $78,792.00 between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services whereby the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will provide funding to operate a comprehensive HIV surveillance program in the Kansas City, Missouri area and in the Missouri counties of Jackson, Platte, Clay, Cass and Ray from January 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024, for a total award amount not to exceed $213,864.00, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the grant award agreement, in substantial form, is on file with the Director.

 

Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the Health Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following amounts:

Section 3. That the sum of $78,792.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Health Grants Fund in the following accounts:

24-2480-505416-B-G50242525                                          HIV/AIDS Surveillance                                     1,750.00

24-2480-505416-C-G50242525                                            HIV/AIDS Surveillance                                              1,215.00

Section 4. That the Director of Health is hereby authorized to expend the sum of $78,792.00 from funds appropriated to Account No. 24-2480-505416-G50242525 for the aforesaid contract, for the portion of the contract to be expended this fiscal year.

 

Section 5. That this ordinance is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(C) of the City Charter in that it appropriates money and shall take effect in accordance with that section.
