RESOLUTION - Honoring Daniel Frederick Karre on his dedicated volunteer service at KC Pet Project.

WHEREAS, Daniel Frederick Karre, an 11 year old began volunteering at KC Pet Project in March 2022. Daniel’s devotion and responsibility has resulted in multiple instances that have never been encountered by KC Pet Project before; and 

WHEREAS, Daniel has logged 104 volunteer hours in 2023 and 91 hours YTD 2024, total 195 hours, Daniel’s presence allows us to replace “us” with KC Pet Project to gain valuable insight about the characteristics of each dog and their compatibility with children; and

WHEREAS, Daniel is the only junior volunteer that is a member of the Dog Squad. This requires special attention as many clinic dogs have special dietary restrictions; and

WHEREAS, Daniel is the only junior volunteer that participates in accompanying walks with higher level dogs; and   

WHEREAS, Daniel was the first junior volunteer to join the photo team, a team that works with professional photographers to capture pictures of the available dogs for marketing purposes. Additionally, Daniel has run several of the sessions which involve directing traffic flow, taking notes on the dogs’ behavior, and assisting the photographer; and

WHEREAS, one of the shelter’s most complex tasks is getting the 150+ dogs to playgroups.  Daniel is the only junior volunteer to ever assist with this activity. Additionally, Daniel can be found at the shelter or at home folding laundry, helping to clean kennels, passing out enrichment to the main floor dogs, reviewing bios to ensure they are up to date, participating in the Dog’s Day Out Program, and any other needed task; and

WHEREAS, Daniel prides himself on his contributions at the shelter and approaches each dog with a great deal of empathy. He considers his work at KC Pet Project as part of his identity and  is extremely proud of his contributions to assisting our community in saving the lives of animals in the care of the shelter; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and celebrate the leadership of Daniel Fredrick Karre; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Daniel Frederick Karre with the Mayor and Council recognizing and congratulating him for positive civic engagement, strengthened positive perceptions about youth, and fostered community development in the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
