RESOLUTION - Honoring Cheryl Hampton on this day January 25, 2024, on her retirement from her 20 years of service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri at the Kansas City Missouri Health Department.

WHEREAS, Cheryl Hampton completed her bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition at the University of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, in 2001, Cheryl Hampton began her career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri in the Human Relations Department, providing service as an Affirmative Action Compliance Officer; and
WHEREAS, in 2003, Cheryl Hampton began her career with the Health Department and has served in the following roles: Public Health Specialist/Nutritionist, Environmental Field Supervisor, Community Health Navigator, and Senior Public Health Manager; and
WHEREAS, throughout an over a 20-year career at the Kansas City Missouri Health Department, Cheryl Hampton has served a dual role as a Public Health Nutritionist for the Health Community Nutrition Education Initiative, while also serving as the WIC Coordinator for Swope Parkway Health Center, served for 2 years as a beloved and well-acclaimed Division Manager of Community and Family Health Education, served on the United Way Board on behalf of the Health Department, initiated strategies to ensure public health is recognized in the community by disseminating public health marketing materials, and published a children’s book entitled “Just Like Me” in August 2020; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Hampton has served the City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department since 2001 and will retire from the position of Senior Public Health Manager, effective February 1, 2024; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council on behalf of the City of Kansas City Missouri herby express their gratitude to Cheryl Hampton for her valuable service to the City as a leader within the Kansas City Missouri Health Department; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution is spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof is presented to Cheryl Hampton with the best of the Mayor and Council for her continued success in all her future endeavors, and our hope for her continued health, happiness and prosperity.
