Accepting and approving a one-year grant award amendment in the amount of $1,322,832.00 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide funding for Ryan White Part A and Minority AIDS Initiative services in Kansas City, Missouri; and authorizing the Director of Health to expend money from this grant using previously-appropriated funds.

WHEREAS, Ryan White Part A and Minority AIDS Initiative funds provide core medical and related support services to improve access and reduce disparities in health outcomes in metropolitan areas hardest hit by HIV/AIDS; and
WHEREAS, the KC Transitional Grant Area Ryan White Continuum of Care provided core medical and support services for 2664 individuals in calendar year 2023; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That a one-year grant award amendment in the amount of $1,322,832.00 between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), acting through its Director of Administration, whereby HRSA will provide funding for persons living with HIV/AIDS in the eleven county KC-TGA (Transitional Grant Area) for a period beginning March 1, 2024 through February 28, 2025, for a total grant award amount not to exceed $10,324,089.00, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the award, in substantial form is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
Section 2. That the Director of Health is hereby authorized to expend the sum of $1,240,987.00 from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 24-2730-505003-G50244825 and $81,845.00 from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 24-2730-505019-G50501925 for the aforesaid contract.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
