RESOLUTION - Recognizing Exceeds Expectations: Financial Literacy & Wellness.

WHEREAS, financial literacy is a critical life skill that empowers individuals to make informed decisions, reduce financial stress, and build long-term stability; and

 

WHEREAS, there is a direct connection between financial health and mental well-being, with financial stress being a leading contributor to anxiety, depression, and overall mental strain; and

 

WHEREAS, promoting financial education helps individuals gain confidence, reduce uncertainty, and improve overall quality of life; and

 

WHEREAS, access to financial knowledge supports economic mobility, enabling individuals and families to move toward sustainable income, wealth-building, and self-sufficiency; and

 

WHEREAS, workforce development initiatives-such as apprenticeships and skills training-provide pathways to stable careers and financial independence; and

 

WHEREAS, earning while learning opportunities reduce barriers such as student debt and create stronger foundations for long-term financial success; and

 

WHEREAS, addressing financial literacy alongside mental health promotes a holistic approach to well-being, recognizing that financial security supports emotional resilience; and

 

WHEREAS, investing in financial literacy today helps build a healthier, more productive, and economically resilient community for tomorrow; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Exceeds Expectations: Financial Literacy & Wellness; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Exceeds Expectations with the sincere appreciation of the Mayor and Council for their dedication and hard work in raising awareness and amplifying the importance of financial empowerment within the Greater Kansas City community.
