RESOLUTION - Honoring Richard Allen on his retirement after 25 years and 4 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City with Parks and Recreation serving the residents of City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Mr. Allen started his career with the City of Kansas City in 1999 with Parks and Recreation, drafting designs of playgrounds and other park facilities; and 

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Allen promoted to the leadership positions as Manager of Park, Planning & Design Services and finally in 2022 to his current positions as Deputy Director; and

 

WHEREAS, for many years Mr. Allen was the department’s PIAC Liaison working with City Councilmembers prioritizing park projects and securing fundings for those projects; and

 

WHEREAS, during his tenure with Parks and Recreation he worked on many recent high-profile projects, such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Mahomes Playground and the Brush Creek Cultural Heritage Trail projects; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Allen also worked on other projects which include North Troost Trail, Heart of America Golf Course two nine-hole course, Indian Creek and Blue River Trail, San Rafael Park Improvements, Loose Park and Rose Garden Renovations, James A. Reed Park Improvements, Tiffany Hill Park All-Inclusive Playground, Spring Valley Park Improvements and the Brush Creek Confluence Trail; and

 

WHEREAS, October 31, 2024, marks the last day of Richard’s career with the Kansas City, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department;  NOW, THEREFORE,

 

                     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

                     That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their sincere appreciation to Richard Allen for more than 25 years and 4 months of dedicated and distinguished service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and to the residents of Kansas City; and

 

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copy hereof be presented to Richard Allen in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard, and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
