RESOLUTION - Declaring June 17, 2024, as Justin Reid Day in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Justin Reid is a free safety and two-time Super Bowl Champion for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League; and

WHEREAS, since becoming a Kansas City Chief, Justin Reid has dedicated significant time and personal resources to the people of Kansas City, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, in 2022, Justin Reid founded the non-profit organization JReid InDeed to focus on supporting disadvantaged youth and communities through interactive programs, community engagement, and technology access; and

WHEREAS, as part of Justin Reid’s commitment to providing technological access to disadvantaged youth through JReid InDeed, JReid InDeed created a Tackling Tech Science Camp at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, JReid InDeed’s Tackling Tech Science Camp is a concerted effort by Justin Reid to increase STEM training amongst disadvantaged youth; and

WHEREAS, the JReid InDeed foundation is putting on this Tackling Tech Science Camp to have our city’s youth be prepared to take on tech in the future; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare June 17, 2024, as Justin Reid Day, in Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Justin Reid, Founder, JReid InDeed, with the Mayor and Council encouraging all of our communities to recognize and celebrate the growing youth engagement within our city.
