Authorizing the Director of Public Works to enter into a construction contract with J.M. Fahey Construction Co. in the amount of $9,682,940.06 for resurface designated streets Missouri River to 43rd Street; authorizing contract changes up to and including thirty percent (30%) of the original contract price; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute a contract with J.M. Fahey Construction Co. in the amount of $9,682,940.06 for Contract Number CS220039 street resurfacing Missouri River to 43rd Street from funds previously appropriated to the following accounts:

 

AL-3523-897701-B-89008533                                          Street Preservation                                                               $6,666,666.00

23-2080-897701-B-89008533                                                               Street Preservation                                                                      92,441.82

23-3090-897701-B-89008533                                                               Street Preservation                                                                 2,923,832.24

                     Section 2. That the Fairness in Construction Board, to assure fair representation by socially and economically disadvantaged groups, approved for this project, a nine (9) percent representation by Minority Owned Businesses and a seven (7) percent representation by Women Owned Businesses.

 

Section 3. That the Director of Public Works is authorized to enter into contract changes up to and including thirty percent (30%) of the original contract price for related work. A copy of the contract is on file in the office of the Director of Public Works.

 

Section 4. That this ordinance, relating to the design, repair, maintenance or construction of a public improvement, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(D) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with that section.
