Recognizing the Child Protection Center of Kansas City.

WHEREAS, recognizing the Child Protection Center, its tireless CEO Lisa Mizell, and its dedicated mental health professionals, as outstanding examples of service and leadership to Kansas City, Missouri during Child Abuse Awareness Month in April; and

 

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center has provided forensic interviews, family advocacy and mental health services to the children and families of Kansas City, Missouri since 1996, many of whom have suffered the most intimate forms of physical and sexual abuse, or witnessed violent crimes, including homicide; and

 

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center has worked for 26 years to serve the most vulnerable victims of crime such as child sexual abuse, child physical abuse, child neglect and child witness to violence; and

 

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center provides all services free of charge regardless of ability to pay, and on average, serves over 800 children and their families each year; and

 

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center provides coordination with community partners such as the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, the Jackson County Family Court, all law enforcement jurisdictions in Kansas City, the Missouri Children’s Division, Children’s Mercy Hospital and Mental Health partners; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the tremendous contributions that the Child Protection Center, its CEO, forensic examiners, and mental health professionals have provided for the last 26 years, and expresses unwavering support for CPC’s continued contributions towards the children and families of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Child Protection Center with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for the many years of dedicated service that the Child Protection Center has given to this community.
